Edmond, Oklahoma – The Dustdevils took on the Oklahoma Christian Eagles for the second time this season on Saturday. Despite a strong opening quarter, the Dustdevils dropped the game to the Eagles by a score of 71-61.
TAMIU came out the gate scoring, putting up 22 points behind 10-14 (71.4%) from the field. The Dustdevils ended the first quarter with a 22-13 lead.
Despite being outscored in the second quarter, the Dustdevils went into halftime with a 36-33 lead.
In the third quarter, the Dustdevils shot 3-15 (20%) from the field and 1-5 (20%) from three-point range.
In the final 10 minutes, TAMIU shot 5-12 (41.7%) and 7-9 (77.8%) from the free throw line.
Trinity Chears led the offensive effort with 18 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the field, 1-of-5 from three-point range, and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free-throw line, while also adding two rebounds and three steals.
Josie Igherighe was a defensive standout, contributing 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The Dustdevils continue on the road in Denton, Texas, for a matchup against Texas Woman's. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
