San Angelo, Texas – The Dustdevils traveled north to San Angelo to take on #9 Angelo State. The Rams plated 10 runs in the first inning, leading ASU to a 20-3 win in game one.
ASU's offense got going early, scoring 14 unanswered runs in the first two innings.
Alex Lugo brought in TAMIU's first run of the game in the top of the third with an RBI single to left field.
The Rams added one run in the third and two more in the fourth to extend its lead to 17-1.
Abiam Medina singled in the top of the fifth to bring in a second run for the Dustdevils.
Alan Vielma brought in
Ciro Benavides in the sixth for TAMIU's third run.
Angelo State added three more runs in the sixth inning, bringing the final score to 20-3.
Medina and Cruz both had two-hit days and brought in runs for TAMIU.
Joseph Cruz, Benavides and Vielma added hits for the Dustdevils as well.
TAMIU used six pitchers in the game, allowing 20 runs on 14 hits with 14 walks and seven strikeouts.
The series continues Saturday with doubleheader action. Game one begins at 4:00 p.m.
