Dustdevils Tame The Mustangs In Doubleheader Action

Laredo, TX- The Texas A&M International Dustdevils took on the Midwestern State University Mustangs at home Friday evening. The Dustdevils went into the game 12-11 overall on the season. The Dustdevils were coming off of a rough road trip this past weekend and were looking to jump back into the win column against the Mustangs.
 
Game One
The Mustangs started off hot, homering in the first inning. The Mustangs would add on two more in the top of the third. The Dustdevils would answer back, scoring three in the bottom of the fourth. The Dustdevils would score once more in the bottom of the fifth to make it 5-3 in favor of TAMIU. The Mustangs would not be able to answer back as the Dustdevils would take game one. TAMIU would finish with five runs, seven hits and five RBI's. Victoria Gonzalez (1), Jenna Fabela (1), Queenandra Dunn (1), and Isabella Perez (2) would all drive home runs. Nevaeh Herrera and Tessa Ramirez would enter the circle in game one for the Dustdevils. Ramirez would walk away with the win after pitching four innings.

Game Two
In game two, the Mustangs would strike first again and bring home a run in the top of the first. TAMIU would drive three runs in during the bottom of the third and two runs in the bottom of the third. Midwestern State would finally answer back scoring one run in the top of the fourth and three runs in the top of the fifth. However, TAMIU would put their bat and baserunning skills on show as TAMIU would tally six runs in the bottom of the fifth. MWSU would go on to score one in the top of the 7th, but TAMIU's pitching and fielding proved to be too much as they held the Mustangs back to grab the win. Madison Taylor Gray, Kylie Goad and Andrea Hataway would enter the circle during the second game for the Dustdevils. The three pitchers combined only allowed 12 hits, seven runs and totaled seven errors on the evening. Thirty-eight batters were faced total and 139 total pitches between the three would be thrown. TAMIU would tally 11 runs, 15 hits and 11 RBI's. Kristin Maldonaldo led the Dustdevils with one run and three RBI"s. Victoria Gonzalez would finish with three hits and two RBI's.
 
The Dustdevils will take on ranked West Texas A&M Sunday at home at 12:15 PM CDT and 2:45 PM CDT.
