TAMIU Golf Set to Compete on National Stage

Laredo, Texas – The Texas A&M International University men's and women's golf teams are gearing up for an exciting stretch of national competition in early May, with representation across multiple prestigious tournaments.

The TAMIU Women's Golf Team has earned a spot in the NCAA Regional Championship, set for May 5-7 at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas. After a season filled with determination and resilience, the Dustdevils are ready to showcase their talent on the regional stage.

Head Coach Rudy Gonzalez shared, "Proud to represent our University at the NCAA Regional Championship! It's been a season full of highs and lows for our women, but we stuck together and kept grinding. Ready to give it everything we've got this postseason!"

On the men's side, standout Juan Monckeberg has been selected for individual participation in the NCAA Men's Regional Championship, also taking place May 8-10 at Victoria Club in Riverside, California.

Coach Gonzalez added, "We're thrilled about Juan's selection for regionals. He's a highly skilled golfer with the potential to make a deep run at the National Championship. Our program has had success in past California regionals, and we're looking forward to another strong performance."

Before regionals, the Men's Golf Team will also represent TAMIU at the PGA WORKS Championship, held May 5-7 at the iconic Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin. Known for its commitment to diversity and inclusion, the PGA WORKS Championship provides a unique national platform for the Dustdevils to compete and grow.

"The PGA WORKS Championship is a special event, and with it being hosted at Whistling Straits, it promises an incredible experience for our team," said Gonzalez. "It's a great opportunity to gain national exposure for our university, and we're hopeful to be in contention on the final day."
