Dustdevils Sweep Rival Javelinas

Kingsville, TX- The Texas A&M International Dustdevils took on rival Texas A&M Kingsville Saturday evening. The Dustdevils were just coming off a 1-1 split against their rivals on Friday.

The Dustdevils took the first game 3-0. The Dustdevils scored early in the top of the second to go up two runs. TAMIU would answer again in the top of the third. Thus the two teams would battle it out until the Javelinas ended up not answering in seven innings. Tessa Ramiirez would take the win in the circle for the Dustdevils, moving to 5-1 on the season. Fredrick would come into the game to earn the save for the Dustdevils. The Dustdevils would score three runs, record four hits and no errors. Kennedy Griego, Eva Garcia and Alondra Rodriguez would all record hits on the day for the Dustdevils in the first game. The second game the Dustdevils finished the sweep, coming out with a 3-1 victory. In the bottom of the 7th, the Javelinas had the game winning run on base. However, the TAMIU defense was able to hold off the Javelinas and finish with the win. The Dustdevils would score in the top of the 2nd and the Javelinas would answer back in the bottom of the fourth with one run scored. However, the Dustdevils would bring a run in the top of the fifth and sixth. The Javelinas would not be able to answer back. Nevaeh Herrera would walk away with the win for the Dustdevils, moving to 5-1 on the year. Zaria Brigham and Victoria Espinoza would each record an RBI for the Dustdevils.
 
The Dustdevils will move to 22-21 on the season and 15-16 in the conference. The Dustdevils will take on OCU and CU this weekend on the road.
