San Antonio, Texas – TAMIU volleyball battled in straight sets but came up short against Fairmont State, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19, Saturday afternoon at the Bill Greehey Arena.
The Dustdevils came out strong in the opening set, pushing the Falcons to extra points before falling 26-24. TAMIU finished the match with 41 kills while hitting .197 as a team, highlighted by a balanced offensive effort.
Sierra Long and 
Mia Molina paced the attack with eight kills apiece, while 
Gabriella Gamboa added six kills on an efficient .455 hitting percentage. Aryanna Ledet contributed six kills, two service aces, and six digs for an all-around performance.
In the setting rotation, Natalie Cisneros handed out 18 assists and tallied six digs, while 
Dilean Bounds chipped in 16 assists and 10 digs for a double-double. 
Samantha Estrada anchored the defense with a team-high 13 digs, and 
Caitlyn Cornell and Long combined for six blocks at the net.
TAMIU will return to action in the LSC Challenge against Texas A&M-Kingsville on September 18, at 6:00 p.m.
