Laredo, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer put on a commanding performance Sunday afternoon at Dustdevil Soccer Field, cruising past Adams State, 6–0.
The Dustdevils wasted no time getting on the board, as
Jonathan Cervantes found the net just two minutes into the match, assisted by
Felipe Garcia. The early goal set the tone for a relentless first half.
In the 25th minute,
Heiko Dromer doubled the lead with a strike off a setup from
Tiziano Klamler and Cervantes. Less than 12 minutes later,
Sebastian Aguilar extended the advantage to 3–0 after finishing another ball from Klamler. Moments later, Klamler added a goal of his own in the 39th minute to give TAMIU a 4–0 cushion at halftime.
The Dustdevils didn't let up after the break. In the 70th minute,
Daniel Rodriguez scored his first of the season, assisted by Klamler and
Abner Trevino. Aguilar then capped the scoring with his second goal of the match in the 81st minute, sealing the emphatic 6–0 win.
Klamler was the orchestrator in the attack, finishing with one goal and three assists. Aguilar scored twice and Cervantes, Dromer, and Rodriguez each added goals.
On the defensive end, the Dustdevils were equally dominant, limiting Adams State to just two total shots. Goalkeeper
Emmanuel Esquivel earned the clean sheet without needing to record a save, thanks to a strong back line in front of him.
The Dustdevils head on the road to face Sul Ross State on September 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
