Kingsville, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball fell in straight sets to Midwestern State (17–25, 14–25, 21–25) Friday evening at the Steinke Center.
The Dustdevils found their rhythm late, putting together their strongest offensive frame in the third set, where they tallied 12 kills and hit .244 as a team.
Individually,
Sierra Long led the attack with nine kills, while
Caitlyn Cornell added seven kills on an efficient .429 hitting percentage.
Danea King chipped in six kills of her own. Setter Natalie Cisneros paced the offense with 25 assists and added four digs.
Defensively,
Samantha Estrada anchored the back row with a match-high 22 digs, and
Mia Ramirez added six. At the net, Long and Cornell each contributed two blocks to slow the Mustangs' attack.
TAMIU moves to 2–7 on the season and will now prepare for their home opener on Friday, September 26, against Eastern New Mexico at 6:00 p.m. inside the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
