Laredo, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer struck in the 36th minute when Kai Louviere found the back of the net, giving the Dustdevils a lift before halftime. Despite the strong response, TAMIU couldn't overcome an early deficit and fell 6-1 to UTRGV on Thursday night at Dustdevil Soccer Field.
The Dustdevils generated eight total shots, with Louviere, Toni Schauer, Abner Treviño, Felipe Garcia, Heiko Dromer, and Emmanuel Nshimiyimana each testing the defense throughout the match. Goalkeepers Ioannis Koupepides and Emmanuel Esquivel split time in net, with Esquivel making a key save in the second half.
TAMIU (2-1-4) now turns its attention to Lone Star Conference action, traveling to Canyon to face West Texas A&M on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The Dustdevils will look to bounce back quickly as they open league play on the road.
