Laredo, TX – The Dustdevils (0-0-2) matched up with the Delta State Statesmen (0-1-1) Saturday afternoon in Laredo. After 90 minutes, TAMIU and DSU finished the game at two goals apiece.
The Statesmen took an early lead in the 15
th minute with a goal off the foot of Alfie Lally.
Toni Schauer tied the game at one in the 27
th minute with a big goal assisted by
Tiziano Klamler.
For the beginning of the second half, the game remained 1-1 until DSU struck again in the 71
st minute.
The lead did not last for long as a penalty from
Kai Louviere tied the game at two in the 74
th minute.
Ioannis Koupepides was in net for TAMIU and recorded 4 saves on the day.
The Dustdevils host Sul Ross State, Adams State and the University of Jamestown on September 12 and 14 for the TAMIU Classic. Sul Ross State faces Adams State Friday at 5:00 p.m. and the Dustdevils take on Jamestown at 7:00 p.m.
