LAREDO, Texas — Bridgette Tello scored a game-high 28 points to lead Texas A&M International to a 57–49 win over UT Permian Basin on Thursday night at the Kinesiology Building.
The Dustdevils (9–7, 6–4 Lone Star Conference) led for more than 33 minutes and used a strong second quarter to pull away, outscoring the Falcons 19–10 to take a 33–22 halftime lead.
Tello shot 10-of-19 from the field and was perfect at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6. She added two assists and three steals. Carmen Morcillo finished with 12 points, knocking down four 3-pointers, while Jayden Smallwood contributed eight rebounds and seven assists.
TAMIU pushed its lead to as many as 15 points in the second quarter and held off a late UT Permian Basin rally in the final period. The Dustdevils forced 19 turnovers and scored 12 fast-break points to secure the victory.
Mikalah Buckley led UT Permian Basin (11–8, 6–5 LSC) with nine points.
