Emmanuel’s Double-Double Highlights TAMIU Effort

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas A&M International University women's basketball team dropped its third straight contest Saturday afternoon, falling 80–44 to #23 Lubbock Christian at Rip Griffin Center.

The Lady Chaparrals seized control early, outscoring the Dustdevils 17–7 in the opening quarter and stretching the margin to 41–19 by halftime. Lubbock Christian maintained its momentum after the break, building the lead to 61–27 through three quarters.

Racheal Emmanuel led TAMIU with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, posting a double-double in the loss. Bridgette Tello added nine points, while Andrea Reyes chipped in six off the bench.

As a team, the Dustdevils shot 27.1 percent from the field and 20 percent from three-point range. Lubbock Christian shot 50.8 percent overall and held a 52–24 advantage in points in the paint.

Kennedy Chappell paced Lubbock Christian with 23 points on 7-of-9 shooting, adding 10 rebounds.

Texas A&M International fell to 12–10 overall and 9–7 in Lone Star Conference play with the defeat, while Lubbock Christian improved to 20–5 and 12–4 in league action.

The Dustdevils will look to regroup in their next conference matchup as they aim to snap the three-game skid.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Racheal Emmanuel, Senior, comes to Laredo from Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She is the daughter of Lorah. She is pursuing her degree in Multidisciplinary Studies.

Emmanuel turned in a strong effort inside, recording 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for her double-double. She battled throughout the contest and led all players on the glass, accounting for more than a third of TAMIU's total rebounds.
