Wade Leads TAMIU Effort in Loss to #1 Texas Woman’s

DENTON, Texas — Jaela Wade scored 15 points to lead Texas A&M International, but the Dustdevils fell to No. 1 Texas Woman's 68-56 in a Lone Star Conference matchup Thursday night at Kitty Magee Arena.

TAMIU (12-13, 9-10 LSC) trailed 17-8 after the first quarter before tightening defensively in the second. The Dustdevils held Texas Woman's to nine points in the period and cut the deficit to 26-23 at halftime.

Texas Woman's (25-1, 19-0 LSC) pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring TAMIU 25-12 to build a double-digit advantage. The Dustdevils responded with 21 points in the fourth quarter but could not get closer than the final margin.

Wade shot 6 of 11 from the field and made three 3-pointers to pace the Dustdevils. Bridgette Tello and Abigail Martinez-Cora added 10 points each, while Racheal Emmanuel finished with eight points and 12 rebounds.

Madi Lumsden led Texas Woman's with 25 points. Gabby Elliott added 14 points and 19 rebounds for the Pioneers.

TAMIU shot 30.2% from the field while Texas Woman's shot 39.0%. The Pioneers held an 18-3 advantage in fast-break points.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Jaela Wade, Freshman, comes to Laredo from Longview, Texas. She is the daughter of Allison and has one sister.

Wade led the Dustdevils offensively with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Wade provided consistent scoring throughout the game and helped spark TAMIU's fourth-quarter push against No. 25 Texas Woman's.
