LAREDO, TX -- St. Mary's University forced 14 turnovers and outscored Texas A&M International in the paint 42 to 18 as the Dust Devils fall Thursday night inside the KCB Arena.
TAMIU (7-14, 4-9 LSC) began the game with a four-point play by senior Caylen Goff Brown, who led the way offensively with 10 points at the half trailing 34-24.
In the second half, the Rattlers went 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and forced five turnovers with the defense holding the Dust Devils to 33 percent from the field. TAMIU outscored the Rattlers off the bench 26 to 11 with Aidan Williams' 16 (season high), Spivey Word's 7 combining 23 points in the second half.
St. Mary's University (15-5, 8-4 LSC) was led by four players in double figures, Wayne Wiggins (13), Justin Britt (11), Eddie McPhee (10) and former Dust Devil Olaverr "Nacho" Camacho (17) to lead all scorers.
TAMIU continues conference play against the #19 St. Edwards Hilltoppers on Saturday afternoon at home.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Aidan Willams, Freshman, comes to Laredo from Mont Belvieu, Texas. He is the son of Michael and Christy and has one older brother.
Aidan is currently pursuing a degree in Finance.
Aidan Williams finished with a season high 16 points shooting 6-of-8 from the floor nearly getting his first double-double as a Dust Devils with eight rebounds and two assists.
