EDMOND- Oklahoma The TAMIU Dustdevils lose two against Oklahoma Christian in Saturday's doubleheader 11-6, and 15-3 inside Dobson Field.
Game One of Doubleheader, 11-6 Loss
The Dustdevils got on the board first building a 3-1 lead with an RBI Single by Eddie Saenz in the first and a 2 RBI Double by Ciro Benavides in the second.
Oklahoma Christian tied things up heading into the fifth where seven hits scored seven runs breaking the game open 11-4 with Eagles Ruben Castro leading the way with four RBIs and a 2-for-3 game.
Dustdevils in the seventh saw pitch hitter Tristan Cavazos make his first appearance of the season with a two-run homer to cut the lead down to 11-6 before finishing up.
Dustdevils collected 14 hits scoring 6 in comparison to the Eagles 12 hits scoring 11.
Game Two of Doubleheader, 15-3 Loss
Eagles Ruben Castro helped build an early lead in the first inning with a two-run homer before two groundouts allowed two Eagles to score brining their lead to 4-0.
In the second, Eagles Connor Sanderson doubled to get on base before Jontae Hennesy hit a 2RBI Double to extend the lead to 6-0.
In the fourth, the Eagles brought home five runs off four hits, extending their lead to 11-0. In the fifth Dustdevil Iann Cobos responded with an RBI single and in the seventh Eddie Saenz got on base with a 2RBI double.
Five Dustdevils pitchers found themselves on the mound giving up a total of nine walks while the Eagles brought in two pitchers only walking two.
Eagles out hit the Dustdevils 10-to-8 to bring home 15 runs and take advantage of the series two games to one.
TAMIU (8-9) face off against Oklahoma Christian (6-11) in a final game of the series Sunday afternoon in Edmond, Oklahoma.
