LAREDO, Texas-- The Dustdevils lose two in road doubleheader against Lubbock Christian final scores of 7-5 and 11-4, Saturday inside Hays Field.
Game Two, 7-5 Loss
The Chaps got on the board early with four runs coming in the first with Owen Alsup and Carlos Mauldin hitting two RBI base hits.
The Dustdevils responded with two runs in the third, coming off the bats of Ciro Benavides and Iann Cobos. In the bottom, Chaps' Roe Forrest hit a home run deep to right field to extend their lead 5-2.
Entering the top of the fifth, the Dustdevils trailed 7-2 and responded with three runs of their own coming from a two RBI single by Asahi Nakano, and an RBI single by Saul Soto.
The Dustdevils fought back but fell short in seven innings, final score 7-5.
Game Three, 11-4 Loss
The Dustdevils' Jacob Angell brought home the first run of the game in the top of the second with an RBI single to left field scoring Giovanni Malatesta.
The Chaps responded immediately in the bottom half with three runs coming home off two RBI base hits by Hudson Grace and Freddie Nolan paired with Ryan Gargett reaching on a wild pitch.
The Dustdevils trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the third, saw Roe Forrest and Hudson Grace score three runs off RBI base hits paired with two home runs scoring four from Johnny Gomez III and Freddie Nolen. This gave the Chaps a large early lead of 10-1.
In the fifth, Asahi Nakano hit his first triple of the season to right center scoring Eddie Saenz, who got on with a single in his 3-for-3 game.
In the seventh Dustdevils' pitcher Fabrizio Salinas, who started on the mound in the last game, pinch hit for Ciro Benavides. Salinas at the plate in his first at-bat of the season with one pitch hits a home run that scores Derek Garcia.
The Dustdevils recorded 11 hits scoring four while the Chaps got 13 hits, bringing in 11 to win game four.
TAMIU (10-15) plays the final game of the series against Lubbock Christian (13-12) Sunday inside Hays Field.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Freshman UTL/Pitcher, Fabrizio Salinas, started on the mound in game two of the series pitching three innings. In game four he hits a two-run home run in his first plate appearance, first pitch faced. Salinas is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
