SAN ANGELO, Texas – Texas A&M International University women's soccer broke through in the closing minutes Saturday, as Tatiana Perez Lluis scored in the 87th minute to lift the Dustdevils to a 1-0 road victory over Angelo State at LeGrand Soccer Complex.
The victory moved TAMIU to 1-3 overall and 1-1 against Lone Star Conference opponents.
Neither side found the back of the net during the opening 45 minutes, but the Dustdevils held the advantage in attacking opportunities. TAMIU took three shots and earned three corner kicks in the first half while limiting Angelo State to two shots. Maria Melendez made a save in the 37th minute to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.
TAMIU increased the pressure after the break. Lisa Stoico put a pair of attempts on frame in the 54th and 57th minutes, but both were stopped by Angelo State goalkeeper Claire Stoermer.
With the match still scoreless, Perez Lluis nearly broke through in the 85th minute when she put a shot on target that was saved by Stoermer.
Two minutes later, Perez Lluis made the next opportunity count.
Isabella Gonzales set up Perez Lluis for the game-winning goal at the 86:07 mark, giving TAMIU a 1-0 advantage with less than four minutes remaining. The Dustdevils held Angelo State scoreless the rest of the way to secure their first victory of the season.
Perez Lluis finished with two shots, both on goal, and the game-winning goal in 34 minutes off the bench. Riley Brown also put both of her attempts on target, while Stoico finished with two shots on goal. Gonzales recorded the assist after entering in the second half.
TAMIU controlled the offensive numbers, outshooting Angelo State 11-6 and holding a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Dustdevils also earned five corner kicks compared with two for the Rambelles.
Defensively, Melendez and the Dustdevil back line secured the clean sheet. Melendez played all 90 minutes and made one save as TAMIU held Angelo State to just one shot on goal.
The win marked TAMIU's first victory of the 2026 season and came on the road in San Angelo.

Perez Lluis is a freshman forward for Texas A&M International University and is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology. A native of Barcelona, Spain, Tatiana is the daughter of Marta Lluis and Jordi Perez and was born on February 7, 2007.
