SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Texas A&M International University men's soccer held No. 18 Cal State San Bernardino off the scoreboard for 70 minutes before the nationally ranked Coyotes used a second-half surge to defeat the Dustdevils 4-0 Sunday at Premier Field.
TAMIU (3-1-1) suffered its first loss of the season, while CSUSB improved to 4-0-2. The match remained scoreless through the opening half despite sustained pressure from the Coyotes, who held a 15-3 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes.
Goalkeeper Nicklas Berg-Eriksen helped keep the Dustdevils level, making four first-half saves. TAMIU generated a pair of early corner kicks and produced one of its best opportunities in the 16th minute when Aidan Williams put a shot on target, forcing a save from CSUSB goalkeeper Donovan Palomares. Abner Zuniga and Antonio Schauer also recorded first-half attempts for the Dustdevils.
The Dustdevils continued to withstand the pressure after halftime, with Berg-Eriksen making four more saves through the 69th minute to preserve the scoreless draw.
The match changed in the 70th minute when CSUSB was awarded a penalty kick. Alix Soukup converted from the spot at 70:01 to give the Coyotes a 1-0 advantage. Just 80 seconds later, Diego Lopez doubled the lead before Damian Gonzalez scored at 72:21, giving CSUSB three goals in a span of just 2:20.
TAMIU continued to push for a response, with Ethan Williams recording two shots in the closing minutes, including an attempt on goal in the 89th minute. CSUSB added its final goal at 87:48 when Rafa Fonseca scored off an assist from Brandon Prince to make it 4-0.
The Coyotes finished with a 28-5 advantage in shots and placed 15 attempts on goal. TAMIU recorded two shots on target and four corner kicks. Berg-Eriksen finished with a season-high 11 saves across 90 minutes in goal for the Dustdevils.
TAMIU moves to 3-1-1 on the season following its first setback of the 2026 campaign.

Nicklas Berg-Eriksen is a senior goalkeeper for Texas A&M International University and is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration. A native of Oslo, Norway, Nicklas is the son of Tommie Eriksen and Hege Berg and was born on December 24, 2003.
