Pena returned to TAMIU in November 2022 as an assistant coach, after rounding out his playing career as a Dustdevil.

Beginning his career at Richland College and Moutain View College, Pena joined TAMIU in 2019 and played through the 2021 campaign.

Pena made 22 appearanced as a Dustdevil, including four starts. He pitched 47.2 innings and struck out 30 batters in his time at TAMIU.

Pena attended Earl Warren High School in San Antonio where he played under head coach Brandon Bippert.

Pena holds a degree in kinesiology from TAMIU.
