Nicholas Mora joined the Dustdevils coaching staff in October 2021 after graduating from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Mora got his start in coaching with the Weslaco East High School summer basketball team from May 2021-June 2021.
Mora spent five seasons (July 2016-May 2021) at UTRGV as a member of the basketball team, including serving as a member of the UTRGV Athletic Director’s COVID Leadership Council last season.
Off the court at UTRGV, Mora was a strength and conditioning intern during his senior year and was a basketball camp coach for three summers as well, coordinating drills, officiating games and running the game clock.
He earned numerous awards at UTRGV, including the UTRGV Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (5x), The Rider’s Athlete of the Week, National Association of Basketball Coaches Honor’s Court, SOCIALIFE Magazine Hidalgo County Edition Cover Athletes, UTRGV Athletics Iron V Award and the UTRGV Athletics Mr. V Award.
His work in the community is also impressive, having worked with the Children’s Hospital Fall Festival in Edinburg, Texas and the Special Olympics in Weslaco, Texas multiple times each. He also volunteered at the Edinburg Boys and Girls Club.
A native of Weslaco, Mora earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and his Master of Science in Kinesiology Concentration in Sports Management from UTRGV.
