Ryan Mastellla enters his second year as a student assistant coach at TAMIU after joining the coaching staff in 2016-17. Prior to joining Bryan Weakley’s staff, Mastella played five games for the Dustdevils in 2015-16 before suffering a career ending back injury.
Prior to coming to TAMIU as a student-athlete, Mastella was an All Big-8 Conference performer at Sac City Junior College where he averaged 17.5 points per game while shooting 50% from the field, 45% from three and 91% from the charity stripe.
The El Dorado Hills, Calif. native graduated with an associate’s degree from Folsom Lake College in social and behavioral science and is currently working on a bachelor’s degree in communications.
Mastella is the son of Pete and Debbie and has one brother, Brett.
