Arek Zambanini

Arek Zambanini enters his 12th season coaching and 14th year at Texas A&M International University.

He has been instrumental in helping the Dustdevils make 11-straight Heartland Conference tournament appearances. During his time as an assistant coach and associate head coach of the softball team (2011-19), he has coached 13 players that were named to the Heartland Conference First Team with an additional 19 Heartland Conference Second Team recipients.

Under Zambanini’s tutelage, a pair of Heartland Conference Player of the Year awards were garnered by Victoria Beltran (2011) and Maddison Schofield (2019).

Prior to joining the softball program, Zambanini served for two years as an assistant coach with the TAMIU baseball program (2009-10) where he helped four players earn all-conference honors including current baseball coach Ryan Flynn.

As a student-athlete, he played two seasons of baseball at Allegany College of Maryland where he compiled an impressive .352 batting average with 74 RBI and 28 stolen bases.

Zambanini, a native of Hollsople, Pa., received his bachelor’s degree from TAMIU in fitness and sports in 2008. He resides in Laredo, Texas with his wife Mayra and two children, Arian and Alahna.
