Scott Libby

Scott Libby enters his 13th year as Head Coach at Texas A&M International University after being hired as the second Head Coach in program history in July 2008.

A Covina, California native, Libby enters the 2021 season with a career record of 263-377. While a member of the Heartland Conference, Libby led TAMIU to a record of 136-111 in conference play and a win loss record of 17-20 in HC Tournaments.  Libby earned Heartland Conference Co-Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the 2010 season. Additionally, Libby led the Dustdevils to the conference tournament eleven consecutive years, as well as Conference Co-Champions in 2011, and the Heartland Conference Tournament Championship and a berth in the NCAA Regionals also in 2011.

In his twelve years at TAMIU, Libby has coached thirty-seven All Conference players, two Conference Players of the Year, two Conference Newcomers of the Year, three Conference Freshmen of the Year, and a total of eight Academic All-Americans.

Prior to taking the helm of the Dustdevils, softball program Libby was Head Softball Coach at San Antonio’s William Howard Taft High School from 1997-2008. In the eleven years at Taft, Libby compiled a 241—90 record, leading the Raiders to five district championships, four regional final appearances, and two State semi-finalist runs. Libby was named San Antonio Area Coach of the Year in 1998.  Before his strong run at Taft Libby was Assistant Coach at San Antonio’s Oliver Wendell Holmes High School for the 1996/1997 school year helping to lead the Huskies to the State Semi-Finals.

Libby played and coached softball while serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1976-1983. While serving in Hawaii (1979-1982), he played for NFCA Hall of Fame Coach Ralph Weekly on the Air Force-Hawaii team, and in all four years participated in the Pacific Air Force Championship Tournament in Okinawa, Japan.

Libby graduated from University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor’s degree in Language Arts. He is married to Michelle, a middle school math teacher in San Antonio, has an adult daughter Eryn, and he and Michelle welcomed their son Jacoby into the world in the spring of 2019.
