2023:
Cortez appeared in 19 games, starting 18. She recorded a team-best 2.97 ERA pitching 108.1 innings. She pitched a no-hitter against Pittsburgh State. 

2022: 
Redshirt

2021: 
Appeared in 27 games making 25 starts, averaging at .250 in 60 at-bats. She made 15 hits, two of them being doubles. 

Prior to TAMIU:
Cortez attended the University of Texas at San Antonio for one year. In a shortened 25 game season, Cortez appeared in 12 games on the mound for the Roadrunners and made seven starts. She finished the season throwing 47.2 innings, a team best 4.53 ERA and led the team in strikeouts with 47. Cortez limited opposing hitters to a .224 batting average. She was awarded Conference USA Academic Honors.

High School:
Cortez attended Rio Hondo High School where she was a member of the softball team. She claimed numerous awards including, EHS MVP, EHS Offensive Player of the Year, Outstanding Pitcher of the Year, District 31-6A MVP, All-Area Player of the Year, Mission Tournament MVP (2x), 2019 RHS MVP, 2019 ALL-STAR Softball Pitcher of the Year and a district championship.

Personal:
Cortez is the daughter of Tomasita Banda. She has three older brothers, Ricardo, Sergio and Nicolas, as well as a younger brother, Erik. Cortez is pursuing a degree in criminal justice with a minor in kinesiology.
