Texas A&M International University Athletics

Elizabeth Doran

Elizabeth Doran was named assistant coach of the Texas A&M International University women’s basketball team in July of 2012.  Coach Doran brings three years of coaching experience to TAMIU as well as four years of Division I playing experience.  She hopes to help turn the Dustdevils into a consistent contender in the Heartland Conference, as well as improve the team’s scholastic performance.

Prior to joining the staff at TAMIU, Coach Doran had recently been named head coach at her alma mater, Crescent Valley High School.  For the past two years she served as the head coach for the junior varsity basketball team as well as an assistant for the varsity team at CVHS.  During her time at Crescent Valley she worked under Head Coach Craig Ellingson, who has led the Raiders to nine league titles and numerous state tournament appearances in over twenty years as the team's coach (1981-2001, 2009-2012), including a state runner-up finish in 1995.

Before she began her coaching career, Doran played for four years at Santa Clara University under current TAMIU Women’s Basketball Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson.  She played in 84 games for the Broncos, with 61 starts as a junior and senior.  As an upper classmen she averaged 8.6 points per game, shot 40 percent from behind the arc, and was 91 percent from the free throw line.  She was twice named to the West Coast Conference (WCC) All-Academic Team and twice received ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII honors.  She graduated Suma Cum Laude from Santa Clara University with a degree in Engineering and a minor in Spanish Studies.

After Santa Clara, she worked briefly as a graduate research assistant at the University of Idaho and then moved on to Oregon State University where she worked as a graduate teaching assistant, tutor, and fitness instructor.  She recently completed her Master’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science, concentrating in Biomechanics and will soon finish her Master of Public Health degree in international health.

Coach Doran is a native of Corvallis, Oregon.  Her hobbies include running, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.
