Elizabeth Doran

Elizabeth Doran has been the assistant coach of the Texas A&M International University women’s basketball team since July of 2012. Under head coach Michelle Bento-Jackson’s, Doran has helped to turn the Dustdevils’ program around.  The 2013-2014 season was arguably the greatest in school history as the Dustdevils notched a 19-9 record, won the Heartland Conference regular season title, and made an appearance in the NCAA Division II national tournament.

Among numerous responsibilities, Doran works closely with TAMIU’s guards and provides academic support for the players. She is also responsible for film exchange, travel coordination, and organizes TAMIU Women’s Basketball camps and clinics.  Doran also helps in preparing opponent scouts, scheduling team travel, recruiting, promoting the program, and monitoring the program budget.

In addition to her basketball responsibilities, Doran is also an adjunct instructor for the TAMIU College of Education's Kinesiology Department.  She teaches Motor Development and Learning, Health and Wellness, and an ocassional activity course.

Prior to joining the staff at TAMIU, Doran had three years of coaching experience at the high school level, as well as four years of Division I playing experience. Doran was a four-year letterwinner at Santa Clara University from 2005-09; she started 61 games for the Broncos, and led her team in 3-pointers made during her junior and senior seasons. She played her first three years at SCU under TAMIU head coach Michelle Bento-Jackson.  Doran graduated summa cum laude from Santa Clara in 2009 with a BS in Engineering, concentrating in bioengineering, and a minor in Spanish.  She was twice named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team and received ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Distrcit VIII honors for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.

After Santa Clara, Doran spent a year as a graduate research assistant for the biomechanics lab at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and then two years as a graduate teaching assistant at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore.  During her short stint at Idaho she also worked as a tutor for the Vandal Academic Support Services, and was a volunteer assistant coach for the Moscow High School girls’ basketball team. At Oregon State she also was a tutor for Academics for Student Athletes and coached the JV girls’ basketball team at her alma mater, Crescent Valley High School.  Shortly before she joined the TAMIU staff, Doran had been named head varsity coach for the Raiders.

Doran is a native of Corvallis, Ore.  She holds a Master’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science and a Master of Public Health degree in International Health from Oregon State University. In her spare time she enjoys running, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
