Jon Hussak March 2020

Jon Hussak

Jon Hussak was named head coach in January of 2020.

A native of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, Hussak brings with him over a decade of coaching experience. He comes to TAMIU from the University of West Florida, one of the most successful women’s soccer programs at all levels of the NCAA. At UWF, Hussak served two years under legendary coach Joe Bartlinski as an assistant. While there, he helped lead the Argonauts to a 12-5-1 record in 2019 and to a 20-1 record in 2018 with an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. During his time in Pensacola, Hussak developed a reputation as a tireless recruiter with ties all over the country and internationally.

Additionally, Hussak has prided himself on building student-athletes who are successful in the classroom, as well as on the pitch. One of his major responsibilities at UWF was the monitoring of all academic-related requirements, where he helped guide the program to a team GPA near 3.5.

Prior to his time at UWF, Hussak was the head coach for the women’s soccer program at Andrew College, a private two-year college in Cuthbert, Ga. When he took over the program in 2017, the team only consisted of three returning players. He built a robust recruiting network, both internationally and domestically, and was able field a full roster in just two months.

Hussak has also spent a time as the goalkeepers coach at NCAA Division I University of North Florida and as the associate coach at Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. He has over a decade of experience as a coach in the club soccer ranks, including time spent coaching inside the Georgia Olympic Development Program.

Hussak holds Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Ottawa and Nipissing University. He also holds a Canadian Soccer Association Provincial “B” certification.
