2018:
Ruiz played in 15 games and made 13 starts on the season. She recorded an assist in the first game of the season to help give the Dustdevils a 3-2 victory over UT Permian Basin on Sept. 2. 

2017:
Made six appearances for the Dustdevils in 2017 logging 85 minutes including a season-high 22 against Lubbock Christian on Oct. 12. She had three shots with two of those on-target for a .667 shot on-goal percentage. She had a season-high two shots in 24 minutes in her first appearance of the season against St. Mary’s on Oct. 7. 

2016:
Made an immediate impact as a freshman for the Dustdevils where she played in 17 matches including 15 starts registering 1,302 minutes. She scored one goal and one assist for a total of three points on 10 shots, five of which were on-target for a shot on goal percentage of .500. Her first career goal came against Colorado Christian on Sept. 4 followed by her first career assist in the following match against St. Mary’s.

High School:
Ruiz played varsity soccer at Lopez College High School all four years as a center midfielder as well as running cross country for four years. During her time there, Ruiz earned First Team All-District, First Team All-Valley, Offensive Player of the Year, and Most Valuable Player.

Club Soccer:
Ruiz played for four years with Bronwnsville United.

Personal:
Samantha Ruiz is the daughter of Irma and Juan Carlos Ruiz. She is joined by her two siblings Karla (27) and Juan Diego (15).  Ruiz chose TAMIU because it was the best fit for her and her family. The university wasn't far from home and was very welcoming for her as she felt safe in attending TAMIU. In addition, being able to be part of the university's soccer team was a dream come true for Ruiz. Her most inspirational figure is her father because he has always supported her ever step, guiding her along the way. He pushed her to become better in academics and athletics. He taught her that the virtue of humility is key to being successful. Her future aspiration is to apply for a career under law enforcement. In her spare time, Ruiz enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to different types of music, and enjoys the outdoors. She is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Criminal Justice
