Roberto Hernandez

Prior to joining TAMIU, Roberto Hernandez served as an Assistant Coach at Iowa Western Community College. where he served as the program’s U.S. Recruiting Coordinator. Before Iowa Western, Roberto was the Graduate Assistant Coach at Upper Iowa University, a NCAA Division II program

Coach Hernandez also has experience in the summer league as well, coaching for the USL 2 Twin City Toucans and most recently serving as the lead assistant coach for the Lubbock Matadors, helping guide the club to an Elite 8 appearance this past summer. 

In college Roberto played at Barton Community College making the National Final, before transferring to Iowa Western Community College for his sophomore season where he made nationals as well. He then transferred to NCAA Division I. Playing at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley before concluding his playing career at NCAA Division II University of Mount Olive.

Originally from Alamo, Texas. Roberto developed through the Texas Rush Academy and Houston Dynamo Academy systems and also represented the United States Youth National Team.

Roberto earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the university of mount olive. Roberto also earned an MBA with an emphasis in Sport Administration from Upper Iowa University.
