Rocio Garcia began working as Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator in the spring of 2014. Her primary focus is the preparation of the annual budget, coordination of departmental business operations, supervision of various projects, coordination of athletic scholarship disbursement for all sports. She was then promoted to Senior Associate Director of Athletics in spring 2017, in addition to taking on the role of sport administrator for the cross country, golf and cheer and dance programs.

Garcia started her career at TAMIU in 2007 in the Office of Budget, Payroll and Grants & Contracts. She remained in this office for six years, transitioning from various positions, including Staff Accountant, Payroll Specialist and finally Senior Budget Analyst.

A Laredo native, Garcia graduated from Alexander Magnet School and joined the ARMY Reserves. Garcia attended Texas A&M International University, where she earned her Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting (Cum Laude), as well as her Masters of Professional Accountancy.

She and her husband Joe have three children: Sofia, Jose and Dominic.
