Women's Soccer Draws with Newman

Box Score WICHITA, Kansas – Despite outshooting Newman University 20-6, the TAMIU women’s soccer team was unable to find the magic strike, battling the Jets to a 0-0 draw.

The Dustdevils, who have already clinched a spot in the upcoming Heartland Conference Tournament, move to 5-2-1 in conference play while Newman drops to 3-5-1.

Junior goalkeeper Katelin Jennings, getting the start in place of Aissa Pedraza, picked up her first shutout win of the season turning away Newman’s only two shots on goal.

Karina Garcia, Sol Medina, and Sam Zerilli finished with three shots apiece, while Paige Johnson, Alyssa Perez, and Jessica Parker each kicked in two.

The Dustdevils will continue their four-game road trip Saturday afternoon with a non-conference matchup versus Oklahoma Christian.  Kickoff for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 12 p.m. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
