Men's Soccer Outlasts Oklahoma Christian

EDMOND, Oklahoma - Texas A&M International University inched closer to another double-digit win total with a 2-1 non-conference win road over Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon.  Game time temperature was a pleasant 81 degrees with blue skies above.
Both teams had several scoring opportunities in the first half but the halftime scored stood at 0-0 despite TAMIU (8-4-3) notching 10 shots and OC (6-8) recording seven shots.
Oscar Pompa broke the tie with tap in of a pass from Adan Villavicencio in the 52nd minute.  Elkin Marin-Tobar staked the Dustdevils to a 2-0 lead when he found the net on a short range shot after a back-and-forth pass with Diego Manzano-Cano in the 65th minute.
Tommy Guernsey kept Oklahoma Christian in the game when he intercepted a TAMIU pass and scored on a rebound of his first shot that was saved by TAMIU goalkeeper Jesus Cisneros in the 65th minute.
Both teams had several scoring opportunities after that point but neither could find the net.  TAMIU’s Juan Narvaez just missed on a scissor kick over the bar in the 77th minute and OC’s Colin Pinnell put the ball just outside the right post on a hard struck ball in the 85th minute.
Cisneros finished with three saves and OC’s Connor Davenport recorded seven saves with both keepers going the distance.
