Volleyball Sweeps Pace Invitational Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PLEASANTVILLE, New York – The TAMIU Volleyball team capped off a perfect 4-0 weekend in New York Saturday afternoon, topping American International College in straight sets before completing an amazing comeback win over tournament host Pace University.

In the late game versus Pace, the Dustdevils dropped the opening two sets 23-25, and 18-25, before roaring back to win three straight 26-24, 25-19, and 15-13.  Alex Ciszek led the Dustdevils blasting 23 kills and finishing with a season high .310 hitting percentage, while Toriana Goods picked up her second double-double of the season with 11 kills and 16 digs.  Daria Winckler finished with her team-leading seventh double-double of the season adding 48 assists and 13 digs and Desiree Ortiz led the TAMIU back row picking up 34 digs.

In the early match the Dustdevils took the opening two sets by a total of four points, winning 27-25 and 25-23.  They were then dominant in the final set, closing out American International with a 25-19 win.  Ciszek and Miranda Pratt combined for 25 total kills, finishing with 13 and 12 respectively.  Jacquelynne Matula was an efficient force adding eight kills hitting .467 for the match, while Winckler served up a game-high 40 assists.

The two wins improve the Dustdevils overall record to 7-6 on the season, while their conference record remains at 1-3.  The team will return to action Tuesday evening hosting Our Lady of the Lake University at the TAMIU KCB at 7 p.m.
