LAREDO, Texas – Two days after clinching a historic appearance in the Heartland Conference postseason tournament, Texas A&M International faces West Texas A&M in a match to combat domestic violence and raise awareness. The Dustdevils are partnering with the Kristine Meza Foundation to provide information and support to victim of domestic violence.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. At Wednesday's soccer match, all proceeds from the concession stand and gate will benefit KMF while an information booth will be set up throughout the match. Representatives from KMF, including the Meza family, will make a halftime presentation.

The gate opens one hour before kickoff, at 6:30 p.m., and a $5 donation will be requested upon entry. The Dustdevils ask that all fans wear purple for the event.

The Kristine Meza Foundation's mission is to raise awareness in the Laredo community on the impact of domestic violence. The foundation is committed to strengthening individuals by education, compassion and courage and to serve as a resource to those associated with its physical, emotional and mental harm. By doing so, KMF aims to prevent the loss of wholesome lives.

The Kristine Meza Foundation was organized in response to the Meza family's tragic experience with domestic violence. On Feb. 11, 2011, Meza was attacked in her driveway on her way to work by her estranged ex-boyfriend.

As a result, KMF united to embark on a mission to make a difference for those who feel locked in silence. KMF's goal is to raise awareness on the issue and impact of domestic violence. Along with hosting an annual 5K to generate awareness, KMF's goal is also to recruit as many support members and offer resources for help.
