LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas A&M International University visited Lubbock Christian – the team with the best record in the Heartland Conference – on Thursday. Despite challenging the Lady Chaps, the Dustdevils (1-14, 1-8 Heartland) fell, 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-12).
The Dustdevils met the Lady Chaps – a postseason-ineligible program due to its status as a provisional member in the NCAA – in a third consecutive road game in a run of four straight.
On Thursday, TAMIU junior Lizzie Prieto led the way with all 27 of the Dustdevils' assists, a kill, an ace, a block and four digs. She recorded four points in her everywhere-on-the-floor performance.
Offensively, Miaje Hubbard led the Dustdevils with 12 points – off 12 kills. Tasmin Apple had five kills, Alex Ciszek had four kills, an ace and a block, Caitlinn Williams had four kills and three blocks and Samantha Gonzalez had three kills and a block.
Defensively, freshman Alejandra Bustamante dug out 16 balls while Ciszek contributed with eight digs. Caitlinn Williams had four digs, Koral Wright had three, Gonzalez and Sophia Quinones each had two and both Hubbard and Apple had one a piece.
The Dustdevils will finish their four-straight road games with a meeting at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin on Saturday at noon. They then return home to host Huston-Tillotson in a non-conference game on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
