WICHITA, Kansas – Entering Saturday with a two-game win streak in the Heartland Conference, Texas A&M International University collided with Newman in the Dustdevils final road game of the season. The match countered the Dustdevils' plan, seeing them fall, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-16), to the Jets.
TAMIU (4-18, 3-11 Heartland) led just twice in the game, opening two of the three matches with early leads before falling behind. Senior Alex Ciszek paced the Dustdevils with nine kills and nine points. Freshman Caitlinn Williams followed with six kills and six points, Tasmin Apple registered four kills and two blocks for five points, Sophia Quinones had three kills, an ace and a block for 4.5 points.
Lizzie Prieto pounded the Dustdevils' transition game with all but one of their 24 assists. Ciszek had the only other assist.
On defense, Sarah Truman dug out 19 of the Jets' attacks and Quinones chipped in with 11. Prieto had eight, Koral Wright and Alejandra Bustamante had five each.
The Dustdevils will now return home for the season's final two games, including showdowns with Arkansas-Fort Smith on Nov. 6 and Dallas Baptist on Nov. 8.
