Box Score LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International University senior Patrick Carlson shot with pinpoint accuracy on Saturday in the final game of the 5th Annual La Posada Classic at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. The sharpshooting swingman sizzled, sinking a TAMIU single-game record 10 3-pointers in the Dustdevils' 117-71 victory over Southwestern Adventist.
Carlson collected 36 points off 13-for-22 shooting from the field, including 59 percent from beyond the arc. He hit five consecutive shots for 13 points in the first half.
The Dustdevils combined for just eight 3-pointers.
Junior guard Montrice McKnight finished with 21 points off a quartet of 3's and 57 percent shooting from the field. Senior post player Vadal Faniel clocked 10 points and seven rebounds in just 15 minutes.
The Dustdevils defense held SWAU to just 44 percent shooting from the field, thanks largely to David Horst's trio of steals and TAMIU's ability to force the Knights into 22 turnovers.
TAMIU outrebounded the visitors 50-20.
The Dustdevils (2-2) next travel to the Holiday Inn-Airport Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Colorado Mesa to face Western State Colorado and CMU on Nov. 28-29 in Grand Junction, Colo.
