Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas A&M International dug into the batter's box for Saturday's series finale against Lubbock Christian with hopes of avoiding a 3-game sweep. The Chaps (8-5, 3-0 Heartland Conference) were too much, claiming the sweep with a 13-3 victory over TAMIU (5-8, 0-3 Heartland Conference).
Dustdevils starter Armando Manrrique fell to 0-2 with the loss while LCU's Tim Carlson improved to 1-1.
The Chaps got started early, scoring three runs in the first and four more in the second inning. They scored three more in the fourth and sixth innings, plating 13 runs off 13 hits. They also took advantage of the Dustdevils' loose defense, which committed four errors.
TAMIU finally crossed the plate in the top of the sixth inning, starting when Connor Belvin singled to center field. Andrew Arteaga followed that with a single of his own. After Alex McKeon flew out to left, Gordie Taggart hit his third double of the season, scoring Belvin and putting a pair of Dustdevils in scoring position. Daniel Cruz then lofted a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Arteaga and advancing Taggart to third. Jake Cardoza then worked a two-out full count to produce a single to left, scoring Taggart.
Those three runs were all the Dustdevils mustered.
Taggart led the Dustdevils, going 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Cardoza also went 2-for-3 with a RBI. Belvin and Arteaga were the only other Dustdevils with hits, as Arteaga went 1-for-3 and Belvin finished 1-for-2. Michael Colorado reached base via a walk, but the Chaps silenced the remainder of the TAMIU lineup.
Defensively, Colorado committed two errors while Mauricio Granados and Manrrique each made one.

Mary Bigham came in to pitch 2 1/3 innings with a strike out and a walk, allowing five hits and three runs.
