LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International baseball earned multiple postseason honors from the Lone Star Conference as Eddie Saenz was named Second Team All-Conference and freshman Derek Garcia earned a spot on the LSC All-Defensive Team, the league office announced this week.
Overall, 49 student-athletes were recognized through the Lone Star Conference Baseball All-Conference program, with selections determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.
Saenz capped off an impressive 2026 campaign by earning Second Team All-LSC recognition after starting all 49 games for the Dustdevils. The standout infielder finished the season batting .379 with a 1.127 OPS while collecting 66 hits, 48 runs scored, 18 doubles, nine home runs and 40 RBIs in 174 at-bats.
He also posted a .638 slugging percentage and a .489 on-base percentage while adding five stolen bases during the year. Saenz served as one of the top offensive producers in the TAMIU lineup throughout the season and previously earned Lone Star Conference Player of the Week honors earlier this spring.
Garcia earned conference recognition for his defensive play at third base during his freshman season. He appeared in 41 games with 39 starts and was named to the Lone Star Conference All-Defensive Team after recording a .977 fielding percentage with 41 putouts and 85 assists while helping turn 12 double plays.
The All-Defensive Team awards, which have been presented for nine years, are determined by a vote of Lone Star Conference baseball head coaches based solely on defensive performance for all nine positions.
The freshman infielder quickly established himself as a reliable presence on the left side of the infield, consistently making difficult plays and providing steady defense throughout conference competition.
The postseason honors close out a strong year for the Dustdevils, highlighted by individual performances on both sides of the field during the 2026 season.
