Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Texas A&M International took a break from Heartland Conference play on Wednesday, taking on Ouachita Baptist. The Dustdevils (14-27, 6-15 Heartland) fell to the Tigers (20-24) in the 5-1 affair.
The Dustdevils saw starter Mary Bigham (1-5) take the loss, although it was a seven-man pitching performance, with none going more than two innings. Bigham pitched one inning with three hits and three runs allowed. Mark Muñoz pitched an inning with a hit, a walk and a strike out. Garrett Taggart threw a game-high two innings with a walk, Ryan Williams threw an inning with two hits, two runs and a strike out, while Baylr Bickerton threw an inning with a walk and a strike out. Jared Curnel went an inning with a strike out and two walks and Armando Manrrique went one inning.
Josh Reeves (3-3) took the win for the Tigers.
The Dustdevils recorded seven hits, scoring the only run in the first inning via a Connor Belvin sacrifice fly to score Nathan Halas.
Halas went 3-for-4 with the run, while Andrew Arteaga (1-for-4), Jake Cardoza (1-for-4), Gordie Taggart (1-for-3) and Arturo Castro Jr. (1-for-4) each recorded a hit. Arteaga's was a double. Belvin drew the team's only walk, while Alex McKeon and Gordie Taggart reached when hit by pitches. Taggart stole a base as well.
The Dustdevils will next travel to Fort Smith, Ark., to return to Heartland action against the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith in a doubleheader on April 18 at 1 p.m. The series will conclude on April 19 at 1 p.m.
