ADA, Okla. – Texas A&M International University continued its current seven-game road trip with a pair of opening affairs at the East Central/Southeast Oklahoma Tournament. In the first game, the Dustdevils (0-5, 0-3 Heartland Conference) met the University of Central Oklahoma, falling 3-0 (25-13, 29-27, 25-16). In Friday's finale, TAMIU took on New Mexico Highlands, again falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-20).
The Dustdevils close their stay in Ada, Okla., on Saturday with a set of morning games against East Central at 8 a.m. and then Washburn at 10 a.m.
TAMIU vs. UCO (25-13, 29-27, 25-16)
Junior Miaje Hubbard led the Dustdevils attack with 13 kills and a stout .385 hitting percentage. The next closest Dustdevil, Tasmin Apple, recorded seven kills and the only other hitting percentage above .300. Senior Alex Ciszek hammered six kills, Lizzie Prieto had four, Caitlinn Williams had three and Samantha Gonzalez had one.
Prieto played a massive role in the Dustdevils' transition, setting 28 of the team's 33 total assists.
Senior Sophia Quinones dug 15 balls on defense, leading TAMIU's next closest – Ciszek (7) – by more than double.
TAMIU vs. NMHU (25-16, 25-16, 25-20)
The Dustdevils' second game, with Hubbard again leading the way with 11 kills. Ciszek recorded six, Apple had five and Quinones, Gonzalez and Prieto each had two.
Prieto notched all but one of the Dustdevils' 26 assists. Quinones dug 12 of the team's 39 total digs.
