FORT SMITH, Ark. -- Texas A&M International University's leading scorers against Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday were both off the bench, as Vadal Faniel and Terrell Funches combined for 25 of the team's 73 points on Saturday. A trio of other Dustdevils each scored 11 points, but TAMIU fell in its second consecutive Heartland Conference game, 89-73.
Funches led the way with a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double while adding two assists and a steal off the bench. Faniel played just 25 minutes off the bench to score 13 points with seven boards and two assists.
Anthony Alston, Patrick Carlson and Montrice McKnight each scored 11 points.
Four of the Lions' five starters scored with at least 10 points scored.
The Dustdevils return home to the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building on Jan. 15 to host St. Edward's at 7:30 p.m.
