LAREDO, Texas (October 10, 2015) -- The Texas A&M International Dustdevils clinched their second Heartland Conference victory, their 4th win of the season, over St. Mary's on Saturday night at Dustdevils Field. TAMIU Men's Soccer now holds a record of 4-7 (2-1, Heartland Conference).
The Dustdevils looked to set the tone early, sporting purple uniforms in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness. However, the Rattlers started things off in the first half, going up 1-0 early. TAMIU rallied to put themselves on the board, when Senior Juan Ramirez netted the equalizer shortly after in the 17th minute.
TAMIU broke for the half at a tie, ready to develop a plan for victory. The Rattlers put a second goal on the board to make it 1-2, but the Dustdevils weren't going to accept defeat on such a special night.
In the 78th minute, Senior Robert Dominguez evened out the scoring with TAMIU's second goal. Shortly after, Freshman Rodrigo Zuniga netted his first career NCAA goal in the 80th minute to seal the TAMIU victory with the third Dustdevils goal of the night.
Up next, the Dustdevils will take on Oklahoma Christian at the TAMIU Soccer Complex on Thursday, October 15th. The action starts at 5pm. Follow along with TAMIU Athletics on www.GoDustdevils.com, with Twitter (@TAMIUAthletics), and by liking us on Facebook (/GoDustdevils).
