ODESSA, Texas (October 15, 2015) -- The TAMIU Volleyball squad traveled to play the Texas - Permian Basin for the second and final time of the 2015 regular season on Thursday. In the end, the Dustdevils secured the season sweep over the Falcons with a 3-2 win. (25-13, 24-26, 25-14, 18-25, 15-13).
In the first set, TAMIU was explosive. They started the game sticking to a strong offensive approach, which gave them 7 consecutive points that lead to the 25-13 win.
Second set play required overtime, as UTPB used their home court advantage to tie the sets at one a piece.
After intermission, the Dustdevils came back to the floor with Set 1 mentality. TAMIU's efforts were aided by attack errors by UTPB, allowing them to build their lead. The 25-14 final put the Dustdevils up in sets 2-1.
During the Fourth Set, TAMIU was challenged by the Falcons. Despite the efforts of the Dustdevils to regain the lead, UTPB took control and earn the victory in Set 4, 18-25.
The deciding set flipped leads back and forth between TAMIU and UTPB. A full team effort allowed the Dustdevils to come out on top (15-13), capturing the match win.
TAMIU remains on the road as they travel to Lubbock, Texas to face Lubbock Christian on Saturday, October 19h at 12pm. When LCU came to Laredo, the Dustdevils and Chaps battled through a 5 set match.
