FORT SMITH, Arkansas (October 1, 2015) -- The Dustdevils (3-7 Overall, 3-3 Conference) traveled to play the Lady Lions, who are No. 1 in Heartland Conference standings (11-3 Overall, 6-0 Conference) on Thursday night. UAFS took control and won the match, sets resulting in: 14-25,17-25,16-25.
TAMIU's efforts in the first set were hindered by multiple attack and service errors. After the first 11 points, the Lions broke scoring open, leading them to take the first set.
The second set started as even play between TAMIU and UAFS, but the Dustdevils found themselves again to be up against continues errors. UAFS took set two, 17-25.
Third set play featured closer leads than the previous two sets, as the Dustdevils were not giving up without a fight. After mid-point, the Lions unleashed their dominance and sealed their match victory with a third set win, 16-25.
The Dustdevils lead the match in team blocks, with 6 total. Senior Lizzie Prieto contributed 15 of the team's 16 assists.
TAMIU will remain on the road as they travel to Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, October 3rd for a mid-day match-up against the Newman Jets (13-4 Overall, 5-1 Conference). The Jets are currently second in the Heartland Conference Volleyball Standings, while TAMIU sits at fifth.
