WICHITA, Kansas (October 3rd, 2015) -- TAMIU's Volleyball team continued their longest road trip of the season with the second game against Heartland Conference foe Newman (6-1 Heartland Conference, 14-4 Overall) on Saturday afternoon. The victory fell in the hands of the Jets, 1-3. (Sets: 25-23, 15-25, 21-25, 21-25)
The Dustdevils started hot, taking the win in the first set 25-23. Freshman Ramey Gardner and Senior Madison Morris powered through to put TAMIU on top.
In the remaining sets, Newman (No. 2 in HC standings) started their engines and took over, as the Jets went on a 3-set streak to take the match victory, 1-3. Despite various changes in scoring through sets 2-4, TAMIU fell short.
Throughout game play, Senior Lizzie Prieto provided 32 total assists, while the Dustdevils out-blocked the Jets, 9-7.
TAMIU Volleyball will finish out their "3 games in 4 days" road trip when they travel to Goodwell, Oklahoma to rematch Oklahoma Panhandle State on Sunday, October 4th.
