Volleyball takes down Dallas Baptist, 3-1

LAREDO, Texas (October 22, 2015) -- The Texas A&M International Volleyball team took down Dallas Baptist in a Heartland Conference match up on Thursday night. With the help of a roaring home crowd, the Dustdevils claimed the 3-1 victory in sets of: 25-17, 18-25, 25-19, and 27-25 to finish the win. TAMIU Volleyball is now 7-5 in conference play, and 7-9 overall.

Returning home for the first time in over a month, the Dustdevils opened up the first set with strength. A full team effort contributed to the 25-17 Set One victory.

Set Two fell in the favor of the Patriots. The Dustdevils kept close in points until DBU broke the scoring open. TAMIU looked to regain their momentum as they headed to the locker room before Set Three.

With a new determined mindset, Set Three proved the Dustdevils were ready to work. DBU battled for the lead, but TAMIU went ahead 2-1 in sets with a 25-19 win.

The Dustdevils had set the stage for a Set Four finale. As play began, the Patriots challenged TAMIU to give their all. Requiring overtime, the Dustdevils came out on top, taking a 27-25 win. The set four win sealed the victory at home, 3-1.

Junior Paula Mrowczynska lead the team with 22 kills. Senior Setter Lizzie Prieto contributed 45 assists in the win.
