LAREDO, Texas (October 24, 2015) -- The TAMIU Volleyball team faced Heartland Conference foe St. Edward's on a stormy Saturday afternoon, which resulted in a 1-3 loss. (25-17, 15-25, 17-25, 22-25) The Dustdevils now move to 7-10 overall, and 7-6 in conference play.
The first set was back and forth between TAMIU and the Hilltoppers early on, but the Dustdevils broke open the lead to seal the 25-17 win. TAMIU looked to bring this momentum into the remaining sets.
In set two, the Dustdevils fell victim to the Hilltoppers' offense (15-25). St. Edward's continued the aggressive play through the third (17-25) and fourth sets (22-25), which put the Hilltoppers on top in the 1-3 TAMIU loss.
The presence of TAMIU's Senior class members made a significant impact on the game. Senior Lizzie Prieto led the team in Digs (25) and Assists (29). Senior Madison Morris led in Kills with 15.
Up next, the Dustdevils will host a non-conference matchup against Texas A&M - Kingsville on Wednesday, October 28th. The action starts at 7pm in the TAMIU KCB.
