LAREDO, Texas (October 25, 2015) -- The TAMIU Men's Soccer team played their last regular season match at home on Sunday morning against Newman, resulting in a 1-2 loss. The game was postponed from Saturday afternoon, due to a flooded field from Hurricane Patricia hitting the Laredo area.
TAMIU started the scoring late in the first half, with a goal coming from Junior Maxine Baron in the 44th minute. TAMIU would hold the 1-0 lead into the second half.
During half time, TAMIU recognized their senior players with their family and friends in a brief ceremony.
In the second half, the Jets took off with two unanswered goals. In the 66th minute, Newman picked a corner and rifled the ball from downfield, resulting in the equalizer. A penalty kick was awarded to Newman in 71st minute, which beat Dustdevils Keeper Antonio Romero to the left-hand side.
The Dustdevils will head on the road Thursday to face off against St. Edward's in Austin. They will continue their last road trip of the regular season at Dallas Baptist on Saturday.
