Dustdevils Soccer cut short by Newman

LAREDO, Texas (October 25, 2015) -- The TAMIU Women's Soccer team competed in their last regular season match at home on Sunday morning against Newman, which resulted in a 2-3 loss. The game was postponed from Saturday afternoon, due to a flooded field from Hurricane Patricia hitting the Laredo area.

TAMIU dominated the first half, producing two goals and holding Newman scoreless. The scoring started in the 36th minute, when Junior Daisy Perez deked a defender after a pass from Senior Chelsea Meador to put TAMIU on the board. The first goal was followed up in the 40th minute, when Senior Kim Garcia netted another great pass from Senior Chelsea Meador. TAMIU would hold the 2-0 lead into the second half.

During half time, TAMIU recognized their senior players with their family and friends in a brief ceremony.

In the second half, the Jets took off with three unanswered goals. The three goals came in the 67th, 77th and 82nd minutes.

The Dustdevils will head on the road Thursday to face off against St. Edward's in Austin. They will continue their last road trip of the regular season at Dallas Baptist on Saturday.
